The cabin was constructed in the early 1990s.

The old name of the cabin was Mattila-Eerola. It was owned by the builder’s family until the spring of 2024. When the cottage changed ownership, its name also changed, adapting to the new owner’s place of residence and surname, becoming Terwa-Ukko.

The cabin was built from trees originating from the builder’s own forest in Kuhmo, Kainuu, in the early 1990s, about two years after the opening of Ukkohalla skicenter. The log frame was hand-carved and transported to Ukkohalla to be assembled. The cottage was one of the first “wave” cottages in Ukkohalla and has been actively used since its completion. The cottage remained almost in its original condition and stayed quite tidy.

In the summer of 2024, many small updates were made, and the surroundings were tidied up. Equipment was added. A roof renovation was carried out on both cabins, replacing the old insulation with new Finnfoam insulation. An electric car charging station was installed on the wall of Cabin 1. During autumn 2025 heat pumps and smart TV.s were installed.

We will renovate the cabin to meet modern needs while respecting its original character. A log house represents traditional Finnish building style; log houses have been built in Finland for hundreds of years, and this building method has been proven to be suitable for these latitudes. Log cabins always have good indoor air quality, and the wooden surface on the walls and ceiling creates a calming acoustics throughout the living space.
